IMD film and material back injection

IMD film back injection

With film back injection, decorated, reshaped and trimmed semi-finished film products are inserted into the mould during the injection moulding process to produce finished decorated parts. With IMD injection moulding tools, items are decorated with painted films. Complex curved parts with symbols, transmitted light technology and multi-coloured surface decoration (e.g. carbon, wood and aluminium designs) can also be produced from shot to shot in this way with easy decoration changing at the same time.

The advantages of film back injection

  • Complex moulded and decorated surfaces
  • Extremely flexible decoration changing
  • Transmitted light technology (day/night design)
  • Reduction in joining processes
  • Direct integration of complex attachment geometries

Material back injection

The back injection of textiles is an economical alternative to the work-intensive lamination of plastic parts, such as vehicle interior panelling. Depending on the design of the moulded parts, the textile is either fed from the roll or as a blank here. As this reduces workstations and, therefore, costs, your efficiency increases.

The advantages of material back injection

  • Adhesive-free composite system
  • Solvent-free processing
  • Very good positive adhesion between the carrier and decoration materials
  • Reduction in the work steps required
  • Cost reduction thanks to increased degree of automation
